things: their worst season since 2013 and a top-12 pick in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft. The 24-12 loss to the New England Patriots leaves Buffalo with a record of 5-10 Womens Jason Croom Jersey , tied with five other teams, including the New York Giants. Because the Giants have the exact same strength-of-schedule as Buffalo, a coin flip would determine who gets the seventh pick and who receives the eighth. Here’s where the top eight spots in the draft currently stand—pending Monday Night Football—along with the accompanying record for each team:Arizona Cardinals: 3-12Oakland Raiders: 3-11*San Francisco 49ers: 4-11 New York Jets: 4-11 Detroit Lions: 5-10Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 5-10New York Giants: 5-10** Buffalo Bills: 5-10** *Pending the results of Monday Night Football** A coin toss would decide who picks firstWith only the Miami Dolphins left on the schedule, the Bills have guaranteed themselves a top-12 draft pick. The question for the final game of the season is if that pick will be inside of the top ten. The Raiders, 49ers, Jets and Giants will all be playing teams that have already secured spots in the playoffs, so their opponents may be willing to sit some or all of their starters. Furthermore http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-star-lotulelei-jersey , the Lions and Buccaneers will be playing the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons—both very winnable games. Buffalo may see a motivated Miami team next Sunday, because although the Dolphins were just eliminated from the playoffs with their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team will likely be playing for coach Adam Gase’s continued employment. Stephen Ross might already have his finger on the “reboot” button, meaning the entire Dolphins organization will be playing for their jobs in Orchard Park next week. EAST RUTHERFORD White Jabrill Peppers Jerseys , N.J. (AP) — Breaking his left ankle and having his career put in jeopardy has given New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. a new perspective on life and football.Speaking to reporters here for the first time since getting hurt in a game in early October, Beckham on Saturday was thankful to be back on the field and seemingly more relaxed and more mature. The 25-year-old said he was not worrying about upcoming contract talks, even though he admits he is taking a calculated risk being in training camp coming off an injury and in the final year of his rookie contract.“I literally watched my world turn upside down,” said Beckham, whose ankle snapped in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 8. “I watched relationships close to me devour and things go wrong, and things go sideways. It was a lot of pain that I went through the last 10 months.“So, just kind of taking it day by day and trying my best to just make my mindset every day that I wake up I am going to be happy,” the three-time Pro Bowler said. “I am going to do this right. I am going to do the very best that I can in whatever it is, whatever it is I am doing. I changed my mindset and it has helped me a lot in everything.”The 10-month rehabilitation was not only tough, Beckham also had to deal with reports that the Giants were considering trading him and the never-ending social media tweets and video about his life off the field.Beckham called the trade talk rumor and noise that he has now learned to ignore.“I remember I used to say all the time: ‘Don’t take it personal’ and stuff, but I still took things personal and I really have gotten that out of my heart to not take anything personal,” he said. “And with doing that, it’s left things that I used to worry about out of the equation. So Jabrill Peppers Jerseys 2019 , once you can really put that in your heart, don’t take it personal and you can feel that, it’s a completely different story.”Beckham’s agent Zeke Sandhu was at the Giants’ workout Thursday and was seen speaking to assistant general manager Kevin Abrams for almost two hours on the patio overlooking the field.Beckham had said he wants to be the highest paid receiver in the game and that has not changed. However, he said he is leaving the contract talks in the hands of his agent and when something happens, it happens. He added if a deal isn’t completed before the start of the season, he would cross that bridge at that time.“I’m confident it’ll all work itself out,” Beckham said, who is scheduled to make $8.5 million this season. “Life always does.”Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers is considered the highest paid receiver, earning an average $17 million on a four-year deal. For now, being back on the field is fun. He is enjoying working with coach Pat Shurmur and said the new offense gives him the opportunity to line up in a lot of different spots.“I love football,” Beckham said. “Football was always an (release) for me, it was always how I could get everything out, and just being able to be back out on the field like I said White Jon Halapio Jerseys , I remember waking up 4 (o’clock) in the morning and crawling upstairs to my bed and laughing to myself, like this is going to be a hell of a ride for you to get back to where you’re at.“And now I’m here, and there’s still a lot more for me to do. It’s truly, I’m just thankful; that God is able to put me back out there,” he said.Since being drafted in the first round in 2014, Beckham has played 47 games and has 313 catches for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns. The 25-year-old Beckham says his rehabilitation was long and painful. He says there were nights he had to crawl up three flights of stairs to get to his bedroom. The three-time Pro Bowler says he has made significant strides in the past two months is still not 100 percent. Eleven days ago Byron Cowart Jersey Draft , the Patriots gave Antonio Brown a $9 million signing bonus. But they’ve yet to actually give him any of it.The contract requires the team to pay the first installment of $5 million on or before Monday, September 23. Per a league source, that payment has not yet been made. Brown will now wait to see whether the money arrives in three days.If it doesn’t, Brown would have to file a grievance seeking payment. Under the labor deal, the team incurs no risk by refusing to pay it. If the Patriots lose, they simply owe him the money, without attorneys’ fees Byron Cowart NFL Jersey , liquidated damages, or even interest. So would New England’s case to keep the money hold water? Based on the plain terms of the labor deal, Brown did not commit a “forfeitable breach” that would permit recovery of any portion of his signing bonus. That said, the Patriots could attempt to resist payment based on the notion that Brown and his representatives knew that Brown faced a potential civil lawsuit that would trigger NFL scrutiny and a possible suspension. It would be a creative and unprecedented argument, but the Patriots have nothing to lose. That said, if there were any shenanigans associated with Brown’s efforts to gain his freedom from the Raiders — some believe he knew the Patriots were waiting to pounce — the Patriots may not want to give Brown any motivation to blow the whistle. But if the Patriots aren’t concerned about any such collateral consequences, there’s simply nothing to lose by refusing to pay the $9 million Byron Cowart NFL Draft , forcing Brown to fight for it, and arguing that if Brown had disclosed the threatened litigation they never would have signed him.Brown also has a fully-guaranteed base salary of $1.025 million. The same argument that could be made to avoid paying the signing bonus could, in theory, be used to avoid paying the balance of the salary. The team also could attempt to void the remaining guarantees. (Brown’s worst-case scenario would seem to be the recovery of four weeks of game checks as Termination Pay; he wouldn’t get the full year’s worth of salary because he wasn’t on the Week One roster.)If the Patriots decide to take an aggressive stance with Brown, who knows what will happen? Given that he has become anything but a sympathetic figure in recent weeks, an arbitrator could be inclined to find a way to prevent Brown from profiting from his own apparent wrongdoing. On paper, the deal will keep the greatest quarterback of all time in the fold through 2021 but the devil is in the details: the contract will likely be renegotiated next offseason.Brady, however, does not seem concerned about his future as he said during a press conference following today’s practice: “The focus is this year and what we’ve got to do. So that’s where I’m focused Infant Jacob Bailey Jersey , that’s all that really matters in the end, and that’s what this team expects me: to put everything in it, like I always have. [...] I’m really not worried about it, I’m secure for this year — I think, at least I get some first-team reps out there.”The Patriot Nation Podcast on Tom Brady’s extensionClick here if you are visiting via Apple News.Essentially confirming that the two sides will have to work on Brady’s contract situation again at one point further down the line — his salary cap hits during the two extension seasons are currently scheduled to be $30 million and $32 million — the 42-year-old also pointed out that he is well aware of his status: he is the oldest starting quarterback in the NFL and sailing towards waters that have never been explored before.“Football’s a tough business, it’s a production business. I’m ready to go this year, and that’s really what matters; that’s where my focus is Jacob Bailey Jersey Draft ,” he pointed out before acknowledging that he finds himself in what he called a unique situation. “Twentieth year with the same team, 42 years old. Pretty much uncharted territory for everybody. I’m going to go out there and do the best I can this year and see what happens.”Whatever happens, the most accomplished quarterback the NFL has ever seen seems willing to let his contract situation — and by extension his future in the organization that drafted him in the sixth-round nineteen years ago — play out: “It is what it is. That’s a good line. Whoever said it, it’s very pertinent. [...] There are a lot of guys who have one year left on their contract. So the situation... I have one year to go, we’ll see what happens.”

I hope everyone’s having a great start to their day. The New York Jets have declined options on three defensive players. The most surprising would be that of DT Mike Pennel, who seemed to be working his way up the ladder fairly well this past season. Perhaps a scheme issue, or a mutual agreement to explore other horizons could be the cause. The two non-surprises were LB Kevin Pierre-Louis and S Terrence Brooks. Although I think Kevin performed decently when forced into a bigger role, there was not much to show that his tenure with the Jets would be meaningful. Terrence Brooks should have had his option declined much sooner, given that when Marcus Maye went down in the season Todd Bowles actually called upon a CB in Darryl Roberts to play the position. At its face these moves make sense, it’s just interesting to see if Mike Maccagnan has the ability to find talent better than that this upcoming off-season. We continue today with former Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Tom Compton. The 29-year old Compton is listed at 6’5” and 308 pounds and is a former sixth round pick. Compton has started 29 games in his NFL career, including 14 for the Vikings last year. He spent his first four years in Washington and a year each in Atlanta and Chicago.BackgroundCompton was recruited to South Dakota where he put together a solid career, starting 43 games over four years. He was an honorable mention all-GWC selection as a freshman and then was a first-teamer in each of his last four seasons. As a senior, Compton was an FCS all-American and the GWC offensive lineman of the year White Brent Qvale Jerseys , earning a spot in the East West Shrine Game.Compton was drafted by Washington in the sixth round of the 2012 draft but failed to make their roster out of camp in his rookie year. However, he was added to the practice squad and then placed on the active roster in December, although he didn’t play.Compton made his NFL debut in 2013, playing in 15 games and seeing some action as an extra offensive lineman. In 2014, Compton was given the starting right tackle job in the middle of the season and started the last nine games of the year. However, in 2015 he returned to a reserve role.In 2016, he signed a one-year deal with Atlanta and again spent the year in a reserve role as the Falcons went all the way to the Super Bowl.He signed for the Bears at the start of the 2017 season and started five games, including the first two games of the year.Last season saw Compton with a new team for the fourth season in a row and he started a career-high 14 games after a preseason injury to Nick Easton. The Jets signed Compton to a one-year contract last month. Now let’s take a look at what Compton brings to the table, divided into categories.Measurables/AthleticismCompton posted a solid set of numbers at his combine workout, with above average to good numbers in every category apart from the bench press, where he just posted 20 reps.He has decent size but below average length.UsageCompton has experience at four of the five offensive line positions, but has never played center. He started two years at right tackle and two at left tackle in college, then started his first nine games at the NFL level at right tackle in 2013. He’s also seen plenty of preseason reps at left tackle and some regular season action there as an injury replacement. From 2015 onwards, he started to see action at guard, starting two games at left guard and three at right guard with the Bears in 2017. His 14 starts last year were all at left guard. He’s also been used as a jumbo package tight end.Pass ProtectionCompton has managed to hold up in pass protection when called upon as an emergency back-up but has some issues when relied upon as a full-time starter. In 2013, he gave up six sacks in nine games at right tackle and in 2018, he gave up seven in fourteen games at left guard, which was the fifth highest total in the league for a guard.Compton has lapses in pass protection because he lacks length and can be overpowered even when he gets his hands on his man Brent Qvale Jerseys 2019 , but one issue he has is that he can let his man get too far upfield before engaging him.His footwork is generally good but he can struggle to recover when someone has a quick first step, as he does here.Run BlockingOver the course of his career, Compton has graded out as an average blocker most of the time.Compton isn’t regarded as a dominant run blocker, but he displays good enough technique that he can move people if he gets his hands on them.He takes pretty good angles, which makes him effective at picking up blocks in space. He can also move seamlessly from one assignment to another.Compton also has the mobility to block on the move, although he does sometimes have a tendency to over-rely on cut blocks when he has a chance to pick up a block cleanly.Screen BlockingCompton also has the athleticism to contribute in the screen game by getting out in front, as he shows here.In addition to making the initial block, Compton will also hustle down the field in an effort to find someone else to block.Footwork/TechniqueBy far Compton’s worst game of last year was against the Rams, as he simply couldn’t cope with Aaron Donald’s speed. This quickness advantage enabled Donald to keep Compton from getting his hands on him. While Compton usually moves his feet well, he has a tendency to lunge if he loses a leverage advantage and this can affect his balance and make him susceptible to bull rushes.Aggressiveness/PhysicalityCompton battles hard to stay on his blocks to the whistle and displays plenty of hustle when on the move. However, he’s not the kind of player you’d single out for his nastiness.Compton has had 15 penalties in his career, including four for holding. He’s never had a personal foul. The six penalties he had last season were the most he’s ever had in one year.Special TeamsCompton was employed as a blocker on the kickoff return unit in 2015 with Washington and 2016 with Atlanta, but otherwise his special teams contributions have just been as a blocker on field goals and extra points.Washington had a couple of touchdowns on kickoff returns in 2015, as Compton made his block on this 99-yard return by ex-Jet Andre Roberts.Instincts/IntelligenceCompton is considered to have good smarts, which is obviously a factor in his excellent versatility. He shows good awareness on this play as he loses the battle at the point of attack so readjusts to drive his man upfield and out of the play instead. While he doesn’t seem to have many on-field mental lapses, Compton has been called for eight pre-snap penalties, including five false starts.AttitudeCompton is a popular teammate, was a team captain in college and doesn’t have any off-field concerns. His high school coach has lauded his incredible work ethic. As noted White Robby Anderson Jerseys , he doesn’t necessarily have a nasty side, although he gives good effort and shows frustration when he makes a mistake.InjuriesInjuries haven’t been a major problem for Compton. However, he missed two games last season with a sprained MCL. He also had a shoulder issue later on in the season, but did not miss any time. He suffered a concussion at the end of the 2017 season.Scheme FitCompton has shown a good ability to pull and block on the move in power sets, but also had some impressive zone blocking plays in the running game, so should fit into the Jets’ system well. In pass protection, he can hold up in a quick passing game, but could be a liability if required to stay in front of his man for longer periods of time.In 2017, Compton played for offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, who is now in the same role for the Jets, so he has a good chance to make a swift transition and the staff presumably sees him as a fit.ConclusionsCompton’s best asset is his ability to play either tackle spot and either guard spot, which could make him a valuable reserve. He’s not a great option as a starter but has plenty of experience of standing in over the course of his career. On the basis of his film, Compton seems capable of being reliable as a run blocker but has some issues in pass protection. Although he will have played on five teams in five years if he makes the Jets, it’s interesting to note that he’s only ever been cut once - at the end of his rookie preseason, after which he ended up on the practice squad and made the roster later in the year anyway.Compton isn’t a lock to win a roster spot, but Jets fans will hope he can prove himself to be a more reliable reserve than Brent Qvale has been over the past few years. Dieugot Joseph, Jordan Morgan and Ben Braden will also be battling for bench roles.
In 2017 http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-brett-favre-jersey , Vikings then-rookie running back Dalvin Cook conjured memories of Adrian Peterson, with more than 400 yards from scrimmage in the first four games of the season. But then came a non-contact ACL tear and there went Cook’s rookie year.Cook struggled to get and stay healthy in 2018, with a hamstring injury limiting him to 11 total games — and only 930 yards from scrimmage. After conclusion of the offseason program, Cook has high hopes for 2019.“I’m healthy,” Cook said, via Chris Tomasson of the . “I was able to be me [during the offseason program], fly around and be Dalvin. That’s why it went smooth. Now, I’m back having fun.”Part of the fun is having a new system that embraces the running game.“The system is set up for us to be great Womens Stefon Diggs Jersey , and we’ve got to go be great,” Cook said. “The system is set up for us. We’ve got to go take care of business. We’re going to see in a couple of months.”When Cook was injured in 2017, Latavius Murray stepped in and filled the void. Murray is now gone, and if the depth behind Cook carries question marks, from veteran Ameer Abdullah to youngsters Mike Boone and Roc Thomas to rookie Alexander Mattison. If Cook can stay healthy, he can be special — and that can fuel Minnesota’s offense, allowing for quarterback Kirk Cousins to use play-action passes to take advantage of a great group of pass catchers. NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Jets addressed their kicking woes by adding a kicker who had his own struggles this summer.Kaare Vedvik was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, replacing Taylor Bertolet Chuck Foreman Jersey , who was waived. The Jets also claimed wide receiver Braxton Berrios from New England, defensive end John Franklin-Myers from the Los Angeles Rams and defensive back Bennett Jackson from Baltimore. To make room on its 53-man roster, New York waived wide receiver/punt returner Greg Dortch and safety Doug Middleton and released linebacker Albert McClellan. The 25-year-old Vedvik, a native of Norway, was acquired by Minnesota last month from Baltimore and missed three of four field goals while punting five times for an average of 45.2 yards for the Vikings. He was released by Minnesota on Saturday.Vedvik spent last season on the Ravens‘ injured list after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Marshall. The Jets have had interest in him since last year and are intrigued by his dual-threat ability as a placekicker and punter.New York thought it had its kicking situation in place entering training camp, but Chandler Catanzaro abruptly retired after struggling in the first preseason game. The Jets brought in Bertolet, who spent last summer with them, but he had an up-and-down summer that included him missing two extra points in his first game. With a chance to solidify his spot in the preseason finale http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-fran-tarkenton-jersey , Bertolet made two field goals to account for all the scoring in a 6-0 victory over Philadelphia — but missed three other tries.Berrios spent last season with the Patriots and could replace Dortch as the Jets’ primary punt returner.Franklin-Myers adds depth at New York’s edge rusher spot. He had a strip-sack of Tom Brady in the Super Bowl in February.Jackson is a versatile defensive back who can play both safety and cornerback. The Jets signed seven players to their practice squad, including former Australian rugby league star Valentine Holmes. As part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway program, the Jets and the other AFC East teams have an exemption for an international player so Holmes won’t count against the 10-man limit. Holmes tied for the team lead with five receptions in the preseason finale against the Eagles. Also signed to the practice squad were offensive tackle Calvin Anderson, who made headlines with his unusual ability to solve a Rubik’s Cube behind his back; quarterback Luke Falk, who outplayed Davis Webb in the summer; linebacker Jamey Mosley, whose older brother C.J. is the Jets’ middle linebacker; offensive lineman Ben Braden; cornerback Kyron Brown; and wide receiver Jeff Smith.

Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesOn its face, it seems counter-intuitive: bring in pass rushers to help on first down. We usually think of this as a third-down solution. Create more pressure, keep quarterbacks from completing passes and extending drives. And to be sure, the Green Bay Packers struggled on third down last season, finishing among the worst in the league in third down success rate when teams took to the air.But the problems started much earlier on downs. “I think we just need to have a better win rate on early downs,” Pettine said this week. “We need to get teams behind the sticks more because that really plays into what we do.” Packers opponents were successful throwing the ball on first down 58% of the time according to Sharp Football, the worst defensive number in the league. That was just ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who were by far the worst defense in the NFL last year. This is where adding the Acme Sackers and Rashan Gary come in.Last season, Pettine tended to play bigger on early downs, going to his cadre of sub-package personnel groupings on second and third down. The Packers, as a result http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-jk-scott-jersey , had a solid first-down run defense, finishing 12th in success rate there. Set up Pettine to put together his exotic looks and he can kill teams on blitzes and coverage disguises. But while Green Bay’s pass rush finished with solid numbers overall last year, a significant portion of that came off blitz looks. With the Packers in bigger personnel, blitzing on first down would leave them more susceptible to coverage issues in the back end with guys like Antonio Morrisson or Blake Martinez having to cover in space. Put Za’Darius and Preston Smith on the field in those situations though and the run defense can thrive with those big bodies, while they also provide the pass rush necessary to prevent teams from throwing it all over the yard on the Packers on first down. Adding pass rush while not giving up any beef upfront should mitigate some of the issues we saw last season, but it won’t be enough on its own. As Pettine rightly points out, one of the big struggles for the Packers last year was a specific kind of throwing on first down. Play-action sucks up linebackers and safeties to create openings behind them. Oren Burks’ ascension into the every-down rotation along with the additions Brian Gutekunst made at safety should add to the salve on this first-down wound. Burks isn’t a great run defender, but showed flashes of coverage ability in the preseason, his specialty in college as well. Darnell Savage has the speed to recover from a mistake, as well as the explosiveness to erase ones made in front of him. And Adrian Amos is one of the most assignment-sure safeties in football. To be sure, having these guys on the field on any down should improve the defense overall. This group Kevin King Jersey , though, has specific qualities that could uniquely position them to improve on early downs. Burks brings a linebacker body with safety speed, keeping the size in the front seven up while not giving up the athleticism to cover. Za’Darius and Preston Smith are each excellent run defenders to go along with their pass rush prowess and if Rashan Gary is on the field, he might just be the best run defender of anyone. But all three can still get after the quarterback as well. Add in the improved safety group and suddenly this is a defense ideally suited to stop first-down throws, including and especially off play-action. If the cornerback group can stay healthy, they have the talent to handle their end of the equation as well. And for the first time in a long time, the Packers have enough talent around the cornerback room to pick up the slack if they do suffer injuries.Pettine won’t be able to go to exotic looks to fix this major first-down issue. He has to hope Brian Gutekunst did the work he couldn’t. As we stand here in June, it looks like that’s exactly what happened. He’s taken shots publicly from former teammates and anonymous sources. He’s had to learn a new offense for the first time in 13 years and many wondered how willing he’d be in doing so. He, ahem, “chugged” beer at a Milwaukee Bucks playoff game and saw that skill surpassed by other NFL quarterbacks. Now, as the calendar creeps towards July and the start of training camp Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey White , Rodgers can get back to what he does best: throwing passes as the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. All eyes are now fully fixed on him to deliver results now that he has both a new general manager and a new head coach. The excuses are gone for Rodgers. Now it’s time to deliver.Thankfully by reading between the lines, it seems Rodgers is ready to just do that. The quarterback’s excitement about what new coach Matt LaFleur’s offense is capable of was palpable in Rodgers’ meetings with the media during OTAs and mini-camp. Being the “body language police” is always a little foolish, but Rodgers genuinely seems refreshed with the new offense even if he fully doesn’t have a grasp on it yet and given how much his abilities have been questioned this spring, Rodgers now likely has a giant chip on his shoulder again. That’s bad news for the rest of the NFL. There’s more on what Rodgers has been up to and what he sees from the new offense in today’s cheese curds.Aaron Rodgers sees new offense fitting Jimmy Graham—Packers.comJimmy Graham’s performance last season was on the of the biggest disappointments of a lost season for the Packers. Some attributed that to former coach Mike McCarthy not knowing how to utilize Graham’s skills and now Rodgers thinks Graham can excel in LaFleur’s offense.200 targets for Davante Adams? That might be Aaron Rodgers’ dream—ESPNDavante Adams is good enough that he warrants 200 targets but LaFleur’s offense, based off the Kyle Shanahan/Sean McVay system, hasn’t really allowed a receiver to be thrown the ball that much as our Jason B. Hirschhorn notes. This likely is just Rodgers speaking in hyperbole. — and according to rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield Trevon Coley Color Rush Jersey , dangerous. The Cleveland Browns are looking a lot better these days. Not great, but improved. Greatly improved. Two weeks after coach Hue Jackson’s long overdue firing, the Browns showed a glimpse of a brighter future with their best all-around game in several seasons, a convincing 28-16 victory on Sunday over the Atlanta Falcons.Taking their cues from Mayfield and interim coach Gregg Williams, whose odds of becoming Cleveland’s next full-time coach may not be as ridiculous as they once seemed, the Browns (3-6-1) took apart a team with playoff hopes.Cleveland was balanced on offense, sound defensively and the Browns’ special teams avoided the kind of fatal mistakes that led to so many tough losses earlier this season.“We just finally put four quarters of football together,” said safety Damarious Randall. “Just to see us put it together now shows where this team is pointing and the direction we are going. We are going to keep on building on that and keep fighting.”Mayfield’s leading the charge.Matched up against one of the NFL’s best in Matt Ryan, Mayfield was nearly perfect while outplaying his more celebrated quarterbacking counterpart. Mayfield completed his first 13 passes, finished 17 of 20 for 217 yards and threw three touchdown passes as the Browns posted their largest win since Dec. 13, 2015 — a span of 44 games. When it ended, with the rare sight of Cleveland fans actually still in their seats cheering and not heading toward the exits, Mayfield met Ryan and shared a hug with Atlanta’s star at midfield before filming a promotional selfie video for the team’s website and then sprinting off like a 10-year-old and leaping and bumping with Randall in the end zone.Moments later, Mayfield playfully told reporters he woke up feeling “pretty dangerous.” He’s been scary over the past four weeks https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Duke-Johnson-Jersey , throwing nine TD passes with just two interceptions and making better decisions. It was Mayfield’s second game with offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens, the team’s running backs coach thrust into the coordinator’s role when Todd Haley was fired after Jackson on Oct. 29. Kitchens has catered Cleveland’s offense to suit Mayfield’s strengths, and his quicker throws have been effective in moving the ball and keeping him safe. For the first time this season, the Browns did not give up a sack.Williams said the Mayfield-Kitchens pairing will only get better.“Both of their styles and both of their personalities, they respect each other,” Williams said. “They both understand each other. When that respect is well enough, maybe they might even like each other later on, but there has to be a respect of those and us together with coaches and players that we both are on the same page and we know what we are doing for things to grow. I think Freddie and Baker are doing a great job with that.”Williams, too, should take a bow. In no time, he’s made the Browns better.Sometimes brash and boastful, Williams has toned down his public personality while providing strong, needed leadership to a team that had tuned out Jackson after two losing seasons. The Browns are responding to the 60-year-old Williams, who coached Buffalo from 2001-03 and worked his way back up the ranks after he was suspended by the league in 2012.Williams laughed hard when asked if the past two weeks have reminded an “old timer” he still had what it takes to be a head coach.“I never thought it left Greg Joseph Jersey ,” he said. But as far as his future in Cleveland, Williams insists he’s not campaigning for the job. At this point, the Browns’ play is doing the lobbying for him. When pressed about whether he would like to be the next coach of the Browns, Williams showed a politician’s elusiveness.“You know what?” he said on a conference call as the Browns began their bye week. “I like being employed. I enjoy the head coaching part of it. I enjoy all these parts of it, but understand the big part of what we are doing is we get the players the focus, get me to focus on one day at a time and we have to keep on moving on in the right direction.”NOTES: Williams only planned to give his players Tuesday off, but “threw them a bone” following the win and gave them Monday as well. The players are free this week with the exception of medical treatments and phone meetings. … Williams said LT Greg Robinson “played well” in his second start, but that doesn’t mean he’ll stay in the lineup following the bye. Rookie Desmond Harrison started Cleveland’s first eight games before being sidelined with an unspecified illness. Baker Mayfield isn’t a welsher. The Browns quarterback made good on his friendly (but expensive) wager with Giants running back Saquon Barkley regarding the 2018 offensive rookie of the year prize. Barkley won the award, so Mayfield commissioned a gold-and-diamond chain that says “QUADS.”That’s a reference to Barkley’s enormous upper legs, and a truncated version of a nickname for which Barkley doesn’t particularly care: Saquad.“It’ll say ‘quads’ on it,” Mayfield said in February, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “Not ‘Saquads’ but just ‘quads.’ The two extra letters in there cost a little bit extra money, so we’ll stick with just ‘quads.'”Barkley was bracing for something like that, and possibly worse.“The bad thing about that is Jabrill Peppers Color Rush Jersey , the loser picks, so I don’t get to pick,” Barkley said after winning the offensive rookie of the year award over Mayfield, via Cabot. “With Baker Mayfield, you never know what you’re going to get. But yeah, we made a little fun bet just to show that obviously we both want to win this award, but it’s bigger than us. . . . It’s about a friendship, and the love that we have for each other. But I did win, so I do get a chain and he gets to pick and whatever he picks I’m just going to wear it and that’s a gift.”Barkley now has it. And Mayfield hasn’t disclosed how much it cost.Hopefully, Mayfield didn’t buy it from Drew Brees‘ jeweler. Hopefully, Barkley won’t leave it unattended while he goes for a workout.

Regardless of what happens when automatic replay is available, coaches can throw a red flag and accuse offensive players of pushing and shoving that crosses the line, especially when it comes to any blocking by eligible receivers that occurs more than one yard past the line of scrimmage.Rodgers also is right regarding the manner in which the calls may shift and change based on calls made and not made early in the year.“When they overreffed the sh-t out of the roughing the passers, and then they backed off,” Rodgers said regarding last years agressive enforcement of quarterback-contact rules that quickly ended. “What happens the first few calls this year that really impact the game?”Most think those issues will be ironed out in the preseason. Regardless of when it happens, what needs to happen continues to be this: The Commissioner needs to tell senior V.P. of officiating Al Riveron that this new device isn’t about micromanaging the game but providing a safety net for another clear and obvious Rams-Saints rigmarole.
He’s smiling https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Andrew-Luck-Jersey , cherishing each snap. He’s throwing touchdowns and winning games, staying healthy and chasing the kinds of milestones so many expected when the Indianapolis Colts made him the top overall pick in the 2012 draft.Yes, at age 29, he’s again having fun playing football.“I was not in a good spot a year ago. I remember that. I am in a good spot now,” Luck said in his trademark low-key tone following Sunday’s 38-10 victory over Tennessee.“My perspective is a little different toward this game. I appreciate things maybe a little bit more, and I think that’s pretty consistent with anybody who’s been out for significant time with an injury.”Twelve months ago, Luck was questioning everything from whether a second surgical procedure might alleviate the pain in his right shoulder to whether he would ever play another NFL game.He had been shut down for the season by going on injured reserve and headed to Europe, where he continued rehabbing in relative anonymity. He spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in the Netherlands and when he returned home, just before Indy’s season finale, Luck recounted some of the emotional challenges he faced during his prolonged recovery from a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder.Even then, things didn’t go according to plan. The only NFL coach Luck played for, Chuck Pagano, was fired a few days after his return. New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels accepted the Colts’ coaching job and then backed out, paving the way for Frank Reich to eventually take over while Luck’s recovery essentially started over.“We were throwing little — I don’t even know what kind of balls they were — weighted balls, but they didn’t have points on them,” Reich said when asked to recount Luck’s status when he first arrived in town.“He was patient. I give him a lot of credit. He was really patient and he just said he was going to stay patient and trust the process, and he did that. So that’s a lot of credit to him.”Luck didn’t start throwing footballs until May, didn’t start throwing at practice until mid-June and was kept on a strict pitch count at training camp.So when the Colts started 1-5 and Luck was throwing short, some naturally wondered if Luck would ever regain his pre-injury form.A month later Josh Ferguson Jersey , there are no more doubts.Luck is in the midst of his best pro season with his completion rate (67.3 percent) and rating (101.8) at career highs and his 29 TD passes ranked second in the league to Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes. Luck has reduced the number of interceptions and forced passes and hasn’t been sacked in five weeks, a total of 214 consecutive drop-backs.100<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj MehtaThe closest Tennessee even came to touching Luck on Sunday was when Luck tried to catch a touchdown pass from tight end Eric Ebron. As a result, Indy (5-5) has won four straight to jump back into the playoff picture. If Luck throws three more TD passes this weekend against Miami, he will tie Peyton Manning (eight) for the second-longest streak of consecutive games in league history, trailing only New England’s Tom Brady (10). And the deep throws have returned, too.But the more people talk about Luck’s gaudy numbers, the more focused Luck becomes on enjoying football and life.“It’s nice that the results are positive for us, certainly, but I wouldn’t say that I’m having more fun,” he said. “I’m just enjoying it. It’s a great group of guys. It’s a great group of coaches (and a) great building.”If the injury taught Luck anything, it’s how quickly things can change in the NFL.He lost right guard Matt Slauson to a season-ending back injury after Week 5 and now, in the midst of this remarkable streak, he may be missing center Ryan Kelly, who left Sunday’s game with a knee injury in the fourth quarter. Reich said doctors are evaluating Kelly’s knee. The loss of Kelly could be huge, given offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo recently said Kelly was playing at a Pro Bowl level and was one of the best centers in the league.“We feel like Evan (Boehm) is ready if he’s the one playing,” Reich said Monday. “Obviously, Ryan is playing at a super high level. So I am not going to suggest that there wouldn’t be any changes, but they would be very minimal.”Luck understands what it will be like for Kelly if he can’t play. After fighting through the physical pain and mental difficulty, the agony of defeat and the heartache of not being able to help out T.J. Green Color Rush Jersey , Luck believes he has come out the other end as a better player.“Everybody’s got a story to tell. Certainly, as a quarterback in this league, if you play for a couple years you’re going to have gone through something,” he said. “I’d like to think that what happened, the result of that is probably the best thing for my career, the best thing that could’ve happened.” Offense wins championships in the new NFL.For the first time since the league expanded to 32 teams in 2002, none of the teams playing in the conference title game have a defense ranked in the top 10 in total yards. Only New England is among the top 10 in fewest points allowed. But the Chiefs, Patriots, Saints and Rams do possess the four most prolific offenses in the league. That's the first time the four highest-scoring teams play for the conference championship during the Super Bowl era. It's fitting one of those teams will win the Vince Lombardi Trophy because offense dominated in 2018. The 1,371 touchdowns scored were the most in a season in league history, and the 11,952 points scored were the second-most ever. The two teams with the stingiest defenses 鈥?Chicago and Baltimore 鈥?reached the playoffs but lost at home in the wild-card round."You have explosive players in the postseason, guys who are extremely talented, guys who are represented in the Pro Bowl, the All-Pro team," Saints coach Sean Payton said Wednesday. The success starts at quarterback with Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff leading the way. Brady's Patriots are the only team of the four that didn't average at least 30 points, scoring 27.3. Kansas City led the way at 35.3 with Mahomes throwing 50 touchdown passes. Los Angeles was next at 32.9 and New Orleans averaged 31.5.Elite QBs aren't the only thing these teams have in common. The Rams https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Matthias-Farley-Jersey , Patriots and Saints were among the top six in rushing.C.J. Anderson (123 yards) and Todd Gurley (115) had big games as Los Angeles ran for 273 yards in a 30-22 win against Dallas in the divisional round.Sony Michel ran for 129 yards and three TDs in New England's 41-28 victory over the Chargers last week. Brady also threw for 343 yards.Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram combined for 124 yards rushing as New Orleans held on to beat Philadelphia 20-14. Brees had 301 yards passing and two scores."They can beat you in both ways, they can run it or they can throw it," Rams coach Sean McVay said of the Saints. "That's what really presents such a great challenge because they've got a Hall of Fame quarterback and they got an elite running back, and they've got a great system."The Chiefs were in the middle of the pack on the ground during the season, but Damien Williams had 129 yards in a 31-13 rout聽of the Colts."Andy's an offensive coach, so the offensive plays they get on special teams and the offensive plays they get on offense, when you combine all of that together, it's a lot of firepower and a lot of explosive plays," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said of the Chiefs. "Andy's teams are always tough, well-disciplined. They don't make a lot of mistakes. They make you beat them, and that's hard to do because they're sound and he gets good players and he coaches them well and they're tough."Other than Belichick, each team has offensive-minded coaches. Payton, Reid and McVay earned their way on that side of the ball. The 32-year-old McVay is the youngest coach to win a playoff game. Both games are rematches from thrilling, high-scoring contests in the regular season. The Patriots (12-5) beat the Chiefs (14-3) 43-40 at home in October. The Saints (14-3) defeated the Rams (14-3) 45-35 at home in November. Here's a look inside more numbers heading into championship Sunday:THREE'S COMPANYThe Patriots are trying to join Buffalo (1990-93) and Miami (1971-73) as the third team to reach the Super Bowl three consecutive seasons.HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGEIf the Saints and Chiefs win, it'll be the 14th time since 1975 that the two top seeds meet in the Super Bowl and the fifth time in six years.100View Gallery Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj Mehta
SANTA CLARA Michael Dickson Color Rush Jersey , Calif. (AP)Richard Sherman officially has gone to the other side. The four-time All-Pro cornerback signed a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, two days after being released by the rival Seattle Seahawks. The deal reportedly is worth up to $39.15 million.”Richard is one of the premier competitors Kyle and I have ever encountered,” 49ers general Manager John Lynch said, referring to coach Kyle Shanahan. ”We look forward to him sharing his wealth of experience and his passion for the game of football with our team.”Richard has long been looked at as the prototypical corner in our scheme and the opportunity to have him mentor our players was one we needed to attack. Most importantly, we are excited to have a championship-caliber corner on the field for the 49ers.”Sherman played an integral role in the fierce NFC West rivalry between Seattle and San Francisco earlier this decade. With the Seahawks retooling their defense, he became expendable. His deflection on a potential winning touchdown pass in the 2013 NFC championship game against the 49ers led to an interception that sent the Seahawks to the Super Bowl, which they won.Sherman then celebrated a Thanksgiving night win in a road game against the 49ers the following season by eating a turkey leg on the 50-yard line. Now, the player who was reviled so much by 49ers fans is joining their team after the Seahawks decided he wasn’t worth his $13 million salary for 2018. San Francisco hopes he can make a big impact even as he turns 30 later this month and is coming off an Achilles tendon injury that cost him half of the 2017 season. Sherman also had a cleanup surgery on his opposite ankle during the offseason. The 49ers had a glaring need at cornerback with 2017 third-round pick Ahkello Witherspoon and slot cornerback K’Waun Williams the only players under contract with extensive experience. The Niners believe Sherman can fill that role in a defense modeled by coordinator Robert Saleh after the one that had so much success in Seattle. Saleh was a former defensive assistant with the Seahawks.Sherman became a star in Seattle, bringing a brash attitude and willingness to speak out on any topic to go along with his stellar play. His best seasons came in 2013 and 2014, when Seattle made two Super Bowl appearances, and he has 32 career interceptions. He still was one of the better cornerbacks the past three seasons, ranking second in the NFL by allowing just 49.2 percent of passes against him to be caught, according to Pro Football Focus.Sherman played his college ball in the Bay Area at Stanford under former coach Jim Harbaugh, who then went up against Sherman during his four seasons in charge of the 49ers.— One of the NFL’s sneaky best rivalries will resume on Sunday following a year hiatus, when the Seattle Seahawks travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers in (another) huge game. The Seahawks, having defeated the Packers 10 days ago, will attempt to take down their second consecutive NFC wildcard contender.Carolina is coming off a hellish two weeks. In Week 10, the Panthers were blown out on Thursday Night Football, allowing 52 points to a red-hot Steelers team. They followed that up with a crushing loss in Detroit against the Lions, when a failed two point conversion attempt sealed a hideous loss. Offensive and Defensive PrimersCarolina began the 2018 season with new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Norv Turner arrived to replace Mike Shula after five seasons, while Steve Wilks was the latest Panthers DC to get a head coaching job elsewhere, meaning it was Eric Washington’s turn in the big chair. While Turner’s arrival meant a near total refresh on offense, Washington—like the coordinators before him—is running Ron Rivera’s long established defense. As my former boss Danny Kelly pointed out in his terrific article on Carolina’s fun-as-hell offense earlier this month, a big part of Turner’s (surprising) success has come in simplifying the game for the former MVP he has at the helm. Cam Newton’s average intended air yards is 7.4 per attempt, 9th lowest among qualifying passers—after leading the league in average depth of target in previous years. As a result, his completion percentage is much higher than ever before—it currently sits at 68.4%, dunking on Newton’s previous career high of 61.7%. Instead of forcing a passer with streaky accuracy to throw to receivers who can’t separate, Newton has been surrounded with dynamic, twitchy and versatile weapons, and he’s thriving. Though Turner’s background is in the Air Coryell offense, he might as well be a young Alex McGough Color Rush Jersey , hot-shot coordinator from a Division II school the way he’s calling plays in 2018. Motion and jet sweeps are commonplace in the Panthers’ offense, and he’s utilizing his Swiss army knives—Christian McCaffrey, Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore—as well as you could’ve asked. On defense, Rivera relies on zone defense more than any team in the NFL, after they led the league last season, running variations of zone on 72.5% of defensive plays.Carolina is similar to Seattle in that they depend on their front-seven to handle business around the line of scrimmage, while the defensive backs sit over the top and stop any chance of explosive plays. Leaning on a four-man rush the majority of the time, linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis are freed up to roam sideline-to-sideline cleaning up everything, or carrying backs and tight ends downfield into the deeper zones. Numbers that Matter81.5: The Seahawks’ offense is not without its faults. They commit to the run to an often ridiculous amount, and restrict their own quarterback, who is one of the 5-8 best at his position in the world. They lack imagination and have repeatedly failed to maximize versatile skill sets. However, one area where they cannot be criticized in 2018, is inside the red zone. Seattle’s been one of the league’s best red zone offenses under Brian Schottenheimer, scoring touchdowns on 70.97% of their trips inside their opponent’s 20. Last week, in a massive win over Green Bay, they were 3/3 inside the red zone. The Packers were an advantageous matchup for the Seahawks because they allow the most red zone possessions on the road in the league. Seattle’s red zone offense will see another good matchup this week. The Panthers are allowing touchdowns on 81.5% (22/27) of opponent’s red zone possessions. Only the dreadful Buccaneers defense, which is allowing touchdowns 88.9% of the time, rank worse in the league. Carolina mitigates this issue by allowing just 2.7 red zone possessions per game, which is the third lowest mark in the NFL. In what should be a tight game, the Seahawks need to capitalize on every opportunity. Though their chances inside the red zone may be limited, if this season has been any indication, they’ll make the most of the possessions they do get inside the Panthers’ 20.100: K.J. Wright was again sidelined in Week 11, and it led to a highly curious personnel decision by Seattle. Rather than switch Barkevious Mingo back to the weakside, where he filled in so well previously, the Seahawks went to Austin Calitro. While Mingo has the athletic ability to drop into zones and move in space with backs and tight ends, Calitro is best suited around the line of scrimmage, moving horizontally and cleaning up runs. The result wasn’t great, as Aaron Rodgers found Calitro in coverage against the uber-athletic Aaron Jones for an all-too-easy 24-yard score. Calitro was caught flat-footed, and Jones simply ran past him. With Wright set to miss another game, Pete Carroll has said they would continue to roll with Calitro alongside Bobby Wagner. As tricky of a matchup as Jones is for Calitro, this week will be even more difficult. McCaffrey is as versatile as it gets out of the backfield Byron Maxwell Color Rush Jersey , and he’s in a groove, exceeding 100 yards from scrimmage in three straight games. Seattle, meanwhile, has allowed 100+ scrimmage yards to seven running backs this year, and in three consecutive games. Calitro is completely overmatched against a player with McCaffrey’s skill set, and if Carroll does indeed give him the majority of snaps next to Wagner, they will be burned by it. How the Seahawks go about slowing down McCaffrey will be a massive part of whether the Seattle leaves Carolina with a win or loss. 69.2: The Seahawks’ early down defense will be paramount to their chances against the Panthers. Carolina moves the ball by converting early or putting themselves in favorable positions on third down. On first and second down, they are sixth in success rate, and in turn, are the tenth most efficient offense on third and short, converting 69.2% of the time. When the Panthers aren’t able to put themselves in favorable positions and have to try and convert third and longs, they suffer; through 11 weeks, they are 29th in converting third and longs. Seattle, meanwhile, are the 23rd ranked defense by success rate on first and second down. The Seahawks’ below average early down defense, against a Carolina offense that lives and dies by their early down offense, isn’t a good matchup for Seattle. If the Seahawks want to force the Panthers into uncomfortable spots and away from what they do well, winning on early downs will be crucial. Matchups to WatchDoug Baldwin versus Captain Munnerlyn: Prior to Week 11, Baldwin told local radio he’s completely over the knee issues that were plaguing him—which came just days after he played 98% of the offense’s snaps—then followed it up with a season-high 10 targets and a touchdown against the Packers. On Tuesday, Baldwin suffered a groin injury in practice and will be a game-time decision, though to hear Carroll describe it, he should be expected to play. Baldwin, presumably healthy—and definitely shattering the ankles of defensive backs again— will see an extremely favorable matchup in Week 12. Munnerlyn has been Carolina’s weak spot recently, and he is hurting his team. Over the last month, opposing slot receivers have totaled 22 catches, 278 yards and three touchdowns against the Panthers. Those receivers haven’t been a murderers’ row either: Willie Snead, Adam Humphries, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Bruce Ellington have taken turns roasting Carolina. Smith-Schuster is a budding star in the league, but Baldwin is the best of that bunch by a large margin. Should Baldwin not be able to go on Sunday, it would be Tyler Lockett facing Munnerlyn on the majority of his snaps. At the pace Lockett is playing at, that is not a downgrade by any means.Seahawks DL versus Carolina OL: Seattle’s defensive line has completely blown expectations out of the water in 2018. They rank 13th in adjusted sack rate per Football Outsiders Sebastian Janikowski Color Rush Jersey , and have the ninth highest pressure rate in the NFL. Both Jarran Reed and Frank Clark have taken large steps forward to lead the group. The Panthers and the Seahawks mirror one another in so many ways, and up front is no different. Carolina’s offensive line is performing better than expectations—currently ranking ninth in adjusted sack rate on offense. Taylor Moton has become a complete stud for the Panthers at right tackle, while the best player among the group, Trai Turner, is back to his previous form, which sees him burying the opposition on a weekly basis. Though Newton’s accuracy comes and goes, if he’s allowed to stand in the pocket and deliver passes on time, he’ll kill a defense. Inside the pocket, he’s the seventh ranked passer, and Norv Turner’s offense has him getting the ball out quicker than in previous years. Seattle’s defensive line has to continue their strong play and disrupt Newton’s timing. Forcing him to make throws on the run, or tuck the ball and run, will be key to slowing down a versatile offense.Opponent to KnowD.J. Moore, WR: The best wide receiver prospect in the 2018 NFL Draft has broken out recently, after a slow start which saw him catch just two passes in the first month of the season. As Carolina’s offense transformed into a modern, steamrolling machine, Moore began to find his footing. Since Week 5, the rookie is first in YAC per reception (8.89 average), first in yards after contact per reception (5.5) and fourth in missed tackles per reception (.21). Moore was a refined route runner as a prospect, but the start of his NFL career has seen him play as a receiver capable of winning contested catches downfield, or creating yards on his own after short completions. With Devin Funchess set to miss Week 12 with an injury, Moore will again be relied upon as the Panthers’ top pass-catching threat. His ability to either posterize an unsuspecting defensive back, or work back to the ball with lightning-quick feet, makes him a difficult proposition for either Tre Flowers or Shaquill Griffin, both of whom struggle with locating the football. Though the Seahawks have a favorable matchup of their own in Baldwin against Munnerlyn, Moore will do his part to keep Carolina’s offense rolling. At 6-4, the Panthers are Seattle’s biggest competition in the wildcard race, and a win in Carolina would not only see the Seahawks make up the game they need, but get an invaluable tiebreaker too.
the first time since Mike McCarthy replaced Mike Sherman in Green Bay before the 2006 season. The Packers hired Matt LaFleur last month and the hope is that the former Titans offensive coordinator can spark the offense after a disappointing 2018 season. Rodgers was at the NFL Honors show in Atlanta over the weekend and said he’s looking forward to seeing how LaFleur puts his stamp on the team.“A lot of change Corey Linsley Jersey , in life in general, it’s tough at first,” Rodgers said, via the team’s website. “But it usually works out for the best so I’m excited about what’s going on in Green Bay and the future there.”Rodgers also provided an update about his health. He dealt with a knee injury for much of the year and suffered a concussion in Week 17, but said neither issue was causing him any problems now.“My body feels really good,” Rodgers said. “Instead of getting surgery postseason, decided to kind of go through a different routine with my knee than I’ve done in the past, and I’m feeling really Kenny Clark Jersey White , really good. Got a concussion the last game, that’s cleared up. I’m feeling really good. I’m getting back into my workout routine, but the first month of the offseason is a lot about yoga and traveling.”Rodgers will enter his 15th NFL season in 2019 and anything other than a resounding rebound will likely be met with some uncertainty about what the future hopes for the longtime Packers star. The lack of money Garrett Bradbury Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , however, made that option no longer viable for him.So it’s back to politics, and potential paychecks, in the NFL. Johnson has signed with the Eagles.Johnson appeared in 39 games over three season with the Vikings, generating 475 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2014. He had 45 catches for 687 yards and five touchdowns in eight games with the Orlando Apollos.“Everybody’s pretty much equal,” Johnson said regarding the AAF. “There’s no politics in this situation. The NFL’s different. If you’re a first-round pick, if you’re not playing, that looks bad on the guys upstairs, so they’re going to make sure you’re out there playing. When you’re out here, they just want to see the best players out there, and win games.”The rash of the best AAF players being signed by NFL teams reinforces the notion that having bottom-of-roster NFL players on AAF rosters wouldn’t have saved the league; the AAF already had bottom-of-roster NFL players Minnesota Vikings Jerseys 2019 , and it still failed. If they go offensive line at #18, they could go with Jonah Williams, Dalton Risner, or perhaps even Chris Lindstrom.Trade Down Possible Garrett Bradbury Jersey Cheap , But Not LikelyI suspect if the draft plays out as above, the Vikings wouldn’t mind trading down a few spots to get an extra pick. But there may not be a trading partner willing to give enough to make it worthwhile for the Vikings.Trae Waynes is Traded for a High Second Round Pick or EquivalentThere hasn’t been any news on a potential Trae Waynes trade for draft pick(s) since it was first reported during the Owners Meeting last month.Holton Hill being suspended for four games, given Mike Hughes’ ACL, may throw a wet blanket on that idea, but it’s not out of the question for Waynes to be dealt this weekend either, especially with Hughes ahead of schedule in his recovery/rehab.Kansas City had been a rumored landing place for Waynes, but since the deal for Frank Clark, the Chiefs suddenly don’t have so much draft capital to spend. They still have two 2nd round picks, one of which they got for Marcus Peters, and both of those could secure a trade. The Chiefs need a starting CB very badly and are unlikely to get one at #61.Or #63. But they could get an immediate starter in Waynes that fits their scheme, is experienced Garrett Bradbury Jersey Womens , and could secure a starting job for several years.Chiefs are clearly in win now mode and need to upgrade their defense to get to the next level. There may be some other interested parties as well - 49ers and Raiders potentially. And there is this little tidbit from Rick Spielman too:The Vikings Draft Three Offensive LinemenObviously the Vikings’ biggest need is at offensive line, and they don’t neglect it this time - picking an offensive lineman each day of the draft. The Vikings End Up With at Least 10 Draft PicksIt’s well known Spielman likes to have 10 draft picks, and between trading Trae Waynes and other draft moves, he’ll end up with at least that many. The Vikings Will Draft a TE, a RB, and a WRThe running back will most likely be Devine Ozigbo, the preference on tight end is Jace Sternberger (not sure they’ll land him or not), and I’ll go out on a limb and say they’ll draft Jalen Hurd as well. There Could Be Movement With Other Players TooMost likely Laquon Treadwell could be dealt for minimal compensation or as part of some other deal.Your Predictions ?Let us know what you think will happen with the Vikings this draft weekend!
the decision of running back Le'Veon Bell to sit out a full season do a bizarre victory lap on social media regarding the annual average of Bell’s new contract with the Jets Chuma Edoga Buffalo Bills Jersey , there’s an important factor regarding the contract that needs to be considered. How much fully-guaranteed money will he receive at signing? The initial reporting predictably glosses over that fact (after all, reporters who insist on trafficking in the truth often don’t get the scoops), describing the deal as carrying $35 million in guaranteed money, without specifying how much of that amount is fully guaranteed. Soon, we’ll know (and we’ll share) the full facts on how much truly and fully guaranteed money the contract carries in 2019, 2020, etc. That’s ultimately what Bell was fighting for. The Steelers notoriously refuse to fully guarantee money beyond the first year of a contract. The Jets have a history of fully guaranteeing money into year two and Youth Jamal Adams Jerseys , in some cases, beyond. (When he returned to the team after Super Bowl XLIX, Darrelle Revis had fully-guaranteed salaries in the first year and second year, with $6 million fully guaranteed in the third year.)Ed Bouchette of the characterizes Pittsburgh’s final offer to Bell as carrying $33 million in guaranteed money “over the first two years.” But he doesn’t specify how much of that money was fully guaranteed at signing. Bouchette also says that Bell would have received $45 million over three years; without guarantees, however, it would have been foolish to conclude that the full $45 million would have been paid to Bell. A significant injury or noticeable slippage in Bell’s performance would have gotten him cut before the checks would have been cashed.Without a long-term deal from the Steelers structured in a way that Bell regarded as fair and appropriate, Bell chose not to accept $14.54 million last year from the Steelers and not to assume the risk of an injury that would have kept him from getting a multi-year deal with a multi-generational fully guaranteed payment. While Bell didn’t get the $14.54 million Jamal Adams Jerseys Stitched , he still got the multi-year deal — and once the specifics become available it will be easier to completely assess the value of the two in the bush that Bell secured after giving up the bird in the hand. That’s the point that so many supposedly informed observers are missing. Bell didn’t give up $14.54 million to get what he would have gotten last year. First, he ultimately may have gotten (by way of fully-guaranteed money) much more this year on a long-term deal that what he would have gotten last year. Second, there’s no way of knowing whether taking the $14.54 million last year ever would have kept him from getting a big-money, long-term deal; with a torn ACL or a broken leg or a ruptured Achilles, he wouldn’t have gotten whatever he’s getting from the Jets. But that won’t stop those who want to rub Bell’s face in it from ignoring the broader context, no matter how obvious and petty the motivations for celebrating a football player’s failure to get as much money as he hoped to get may be. A player with multiple Pro Bowls under his belt, Kalil comes out of retirement to join the Jets, an idea that’s apparently been floating around for nearly 2 months or so. With this new addition the Jets finally have some stability at the position, and fans (and Sam Darnold) can breathe a sigh of relief. Hopefully this means Darnold won’t have to run for his life on multiple plays. This move also signifies that the team is making a strong push to contend for the playoffs. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida teammates Jawaan Taylor and Jachai Polite have been big movers in NFL mock drafts. One up, one down.Taylor, a 6-foot-5, 314-pound offensive tackle from Cocoa http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-tom-brady-jersey , has steadily improved his draft stock since the start of last season. He followed a solid junior year with an impressive performance at the NFL combine earlier this month and has seemingly become a first-round lock — maybe even a top-10 pick.Polite was once considered an early selection, but the 6-foot-2, 254-pound defensive end from Daytona Beach struggled physically, mentally and socially at the combine and possibly cost himself millions along the way. Both got another chance to impress NFL scouts and decision-makers, including New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, at the school’s annual pro day on Wednesday.Taylor did little outside position drills because of a lingering hamstring injury. Polite tweaked his right hamstring during the 40-yard dash and was slowed the rest of the day. The same injury prevented him from doing everything at the combine in Indianapolis.“Where they pick me, I don’t know,” Polite said. “But I believe in myself, first and foremost. Whoever gets me, whoever’s taking a chance from my terrible interviews and combine, they’re going to get a great player. That’s all I know.”Taylor was a three-year starter at Florida and part of an offensive line that allowed just 18 sacks in 2018.He announced his decision to turn pro hours after the Gators beat Michigan in the Peach Bowl. Taylor has since worked to hone his technique with veteran NFL offensive line coach Bob Palcic in Pensacola.Taylor played two games at left tackle in 2017 and would welcome a chance to play either at the next level. He has visits lined up with Buffalo, Jacksonville and Atlanta to start what’s sure to be a whirlwind month before the draft.“I’m looking forward to just coming in and helping the team right away Brandon Bolden Jersey ,” Taylor said. “Whatever position they want me to play, I’m going to play it. … Playing in the SEC, I had 35 career starts playing against some of the best competition in the country every single Saturday. So I feel like that definitely prepared me for the next level.”Polite admittedly was unprepared for the combine. He put on about 20 pounds in an effort to bulk up, but pulled his hamstring running 10 days before the combine. It showed in the 40-yard dash as Polite covered the distance in 4.84 seconds. He also posted a 32-inch vertical. But neither of those compared to his lackluster interviews in Indianapolis.Polite called out several NFL teams for “bashing me” during interviews. He also said teams questioned him about his character and accountability, and he seemed surprised when they showed him some of his less-than-flattering plays.“It’s been pretty tough, but it’s a major learning experience for me, something I’ve never been through in my life,” Polite said. “I just keep learning every day. Nobody in my family has been through anything like this, so I had nobody to help me, really, other than my agent.“But I never knew how serious and how mentally tough you had to be for this moment. But I’ve learned from it and I’m doing better now.”Polite said he took all the probing questions as criticisms and didn’t respond well.“My answers weren’t explained, detailed enough Womens Dont'a Hightower Jersey ,” he said. “It’s put a big chip on my shoulder, just with all the negativity. But I’m used to adversity in my life, everything. It just makes me grind harder, it gives me a why, a stronger reason to do it.”Polite has several interviews ahead and realizes those will be big for him to better represent who he is.“I’m a humble guy, caring, outgoing,” he said. “I’m just a great dude, great football player. I didn’t really show them that, and I have to show them next time. I’m ready to do that.”

His lone victory came last season against the Giants. Giants offensive lineman Austin Droogsma may be the only player in any NFL training camp who accused the NFL executive who offered him a contract of trying to scam him.Droogsma, a shot putter who did not play college football, told the that when he got a call inviting him to Giants camp, he figured somebody was pulling his leg.“I didn’t really think it was real,’’ Droogsma said. “I thought somebody was messing with me. I thought it was some kind of scam.’’But it was no joke. It was Giants football operations assistant Charles Tisch giving Droogsma a genuine invitation to a rookie minicamp. The Giants had seen Droogsma’s shot putting prowess at Florida State and thought the 6-foot-4, 345-pounder had the kind of size and explosive power to play in the NFL.“My first response was like, ‘You know I didn’t play football in college White Alec Ogletree Jerseys , right?’” Droogsma said. “He said, ‘Oh yeah, we know.’ I was like, ‘OK, well now that we got that out of the way,’ that they didn’t think I was somebody else.’’After accepting the invitation to the Giants’ rookie minicamp, Droogsma called a buddy who played college football to ask for help getting ready.“I was like Alec Ogletree Jerseys 2019 , ‘Dude, you’re not going to believe this, but I just got a call from the freaking New York Giants and they want me to come up to rookie minicamp,’ ’’ Droogsma said. “He was like, ‘What?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I know.’ I said White Jonathan Stewart Jerseys , ‘Can you help me train?’”Droogsma looked good enough at rookie minicamp that the Giants signed him for training camp, and he is now performing well enough that he has a chance of making the practice squad, if not the active roster. If he makes it, he’ll have one of the league’s most unique stories of how he got to the NFL.
diminish one bit the intensity of the rivalry between the Ravens and Steelers. If it is not the most historic series in NFL history http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-star-lotulelei-jersey , it’s as intense as any. Just listen to what John Harbaugh told his players this week, heading into their visit to Pittsburgh.“One of the things that was said in the meetings ... is that you’re not a Raven until you beat the Steelers,” Harbaugh said. “We have some young guys that still need to beat the Steelers.”To remain on top of the AFC North, that’s exactly what Baltimore (2-2) must do. Cleveland is tied with the Ravens, and the Steelers are 1-3, but come off a convincing intra-division victory against Cincinnati. But even if both squads were 0-4, the passion, the hard hits and the fervor of the crowd would make it a highlight of Week 5.“No matter who is playing,” Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley said, “this rivalry is going to be one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports.”While Ravens-Steelers meetings often are decided in the trenches, Pittsburgh’s coaches and players know that stopping fast, versatile and elusive Lamar Jackson is critical to having a chance against Baltimore. So the Steelers brought in a replica of Jackson in Taryn Christion, who ran a similar offense at South Dakota State.“You can't really replicate (Jackson in practice), but you can get as close as possible,” Steelers defensive back Mike Hilton said. “Having a guy that moves around and is able to keep plays going is going to be big for us. We know we have to have good rush lanes and keep him in the pocket.”Absolutely.Week 5 began Thursday night with the Seattle Seahawks’ 30-29 home victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Russell Wilson threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Chris Carson on fourth-and-goal with 2:28 remaining to give Seattle the lead, and the Rams’ Greg Zuerlein missed a 44-yard field goal with 11 seconds left. Wilson was 17 of 23 for 268 and four touchdowns for Seattle (4-1). The Rams dropped to 3-2.Off this week are Miami (0-4) and Detroit (2-2).Green Bay (3-1) at Dallas (3-1)Even with both teams losing last week _ the Packers’ defense showed little, and the Cowboys’ offense showed even less _ this is a juicy matchup. It almost always seems to be.The Packers have won seven of the past eight in this series, with Dallas’ victory coming during a franchise-record 11-game winning streak when QB Dak Prescott and RB Ezekiel Elliott were rookies in 2016. And the Packers are 3-0 at AT&T Stadium, including a Super Bowl victory against Pittsburgh.Green Bay could be missing WR Davante Adams, who had a career-high 180 yards receiving against the Eagles but left early with a turf toe injury.Prescott has been perfect in the third quarter this year, completing all 28 passes. He needs one rushing TD to tie Roger Staubach’s club record of 20 by a quarterback.Tampa Bay (2-2) at New Orleans (3-1)The Bucs stunned the Saints in the season opener at the Louisiana Superdome last season. Now, they come off scoring a single-game record 55 points on the road against the defending NFC champion Rams.New Orleans needs that strong pass rush it showed last week in downing Dallas Rafael Bush Jersey , because Jameis Winston has passed for at least 375 yards and three TDs in two straight outings. In Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, he had dynamic wideouts who each have four TD receptions, tied for first in the NFL.Teddy Bridgewater has won his two starts in place of Drew Brees (thumb surgery), but it’s an aggressive, quick defense that has placed New Orleans atop the NFC South.Cleveland (2-2) at San Francisco (3-0) Monday nightNo team is more of a pleasant surprise than the 49ers. Coming off a bye, they could move ahead of the Rams and Seahawks in the standings by remaining undefeated. But Cleveland has won four of the past five in this series between the NFL's two worst franchises from 2015-18. The Browns are 11-52-1 in that span; 49ers 17-47.Cleveland’s balanced offense led by running back Nick Chubb and receiver Jarvis Landry was huge in last week’s win at Baltimore. The Browns are tied for first place in the AFC North with the Ravens, the first time since Week 10 in 2014 they were on top of the division.Indianapolis (2-2) at Kansas City (4-0)This is their second meeting of 2019, with the Chiefs’ win over Indianapolis in January their first home playoff victory since Jan. 8, 1994. The Chiefs seek to start 5-0 for a third consecutive season and are odds-on to get it: KC is 11-2 under coach Andy Reid in October. Reid needs one win to reach 200 regular-season victories. He has 211 total, sixth most in NFL history.Adam Vinatieri needs three field-goal attempts to become the second player in league history with 700. Morten Andersen had 709. The Colts kicker is the oldest player in the league at age 46.Atlanta (1-3) at Houston (2-2)A rare meeting: The series tied 2-2.The Falcons don’t prosper against the AFC. They have lost six straight and 12 of their past 13 to AFC opponents. If they don’t improve their turnover margin (minus-5), they can’t expect to contend.Houston, meanwhile, is a plus-2 and has forced a turnover in 17 consecutive games, the NFL’s longest active streak.A key here will be whether Atlanta’s leaky and banged-up pass defense can slow down Deshaun Jackson’s connections with DeAndre Hopkins.Minnesota (2-2) at New York Giants (2-2)The Giants were buried by so many pundits after their first two losses. Then Daniel Jones moved in at quarterback for Eli Manning and, now, the G-Men could wind up tied for the NFC East lead with a win here and a Dallas loss. But, as New York coach Pat Shurmur notes, the Vikings present quite a challenge for any quarterback.“They have outstanding players everywhere,” Shurmur says. “When you start saying, ‘OK, well, this is their best player. No Womens Marcus Murphy Jersey , this guy is their best player.’ All of the guys up front … they have two edge rushers. They have interior guys that can get push. They have linebackers that are Pro Bowlers. They have corners and they have safeties that have all been to Pro Bowls. They’re well-coordinated and they put pressure on the passer, and they do a good job of stopping the run. That’s what you want from a defense.”The Vikings lost five straight outdoor road games, including 16-6 last week at Chicago.Jacksonville (2-2) at Carolina (2-2)Both of these teams were buried after 2-0 starts and injuries to starting QBs Nick Foles and Cam Newton. Guess what! The winner here, whether the Jaguars with rookie Gardner Minshew, or the Panthers with Kyle Allen, also could find itself looking down at the rest of its division.Carolina has the league’s stingiest pass defense, which might not make a lot of difference if Leonard Fournette goes off again. The Jacksonville back had a career-high 225 yards rushing last week and leads the AFC in that department.Coach Ron Rivera (73-58-1) can pass John Fox (73-71) for most regular-season wins in Panthers history. But the Panthers are 0-2 at home.Buffalo (3-1) at Tennessee (2-2)The teams that brought us the Music City Miracle in 2000 _ Buffalo folks are still arguing that lateral was a forward pass _ meet up in what rarely has been a good series for the Bills. They trail it 28-18, though they have won two straight vs. the Titans by one point each. The Bills can match the franchise’s longest streak to start a season since 1993 with a third road win, but starting QB Josh Allen has been in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Some takeaways would help Buffalo, except Tennessee has committed only one, a league low. The Titans also have found a strong pass rush.Chicago (3-1) vs. Oakland (2-2) at LondonOakland’s early season trek continues with a trip across the Pond. The Raiders will find there one Khalil Mack, the edge rusher they traded to Chicago before last season. All Mack has done is lead the most rugged defense in football."Vindictiveness. I like that word," Mack says of his approach to Sunday's game. "Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's the whole point man. You can't play this game with too much emotion, man. Ultimately, I try to stay focused on the task at hand and understanding the situation and understanding what they're going to be thinking that I feel. But ultimately, I'm going to go out there and do what I do, and that's play football and love the game that I play. You know what I mean?"Sure do: Mack has been showing what he can do his entire career.New England (4-0) at Washington (0-4)Every opponent for the Patriots has been winless going into the matchup this season. So why should the Redskins be any different?New England comes off yet another stellar defensive performance to offset an ineffective offense: Tom Brady’s 45.9 passer rating against Buffalo was the sixth lowest of his career and lowest since finishing with a 34 rating in a 27-20 loss to Indianapolis on Nov. 5, 2006. The Patriots had lost the previous six times Brady finished with a passer rating of 48 or lower, but he might rate about 80 points higher in this one.Washington is in such turmoil _ an accurate term politically or athletically _ that when coach Jay Gruden was asked about a plan for facing the Patriots, he said he didn’t have one yet. Hopefully the team has one by Sunday.Arizona (0-3-1) at Cincinnati (0-4)There are reasons to watch this game. We just can’t think of any at the moment.OK, maybe tune in to see which of the first-year head coaches might get his initial win: Kliff Kingsbury of the Cardinals or Zac Taylor of the Bengals.Or White Eddie Yarbrough Jerseys , if you like seeing QBs get knocked down, the Cardinals have given up a league-high 20 sacks, followed by the Bengals with 19.New York Jets (0-3) at Philadelphia (2-2)New York has been hopeful that Sam Darnold will return less than a month after contracting mononucleosis. One must hope coach Adam Gase isn’t thinking about rushing back his franchise quarterback, particularly with this season seemingly a lost cause.Philly comes off a super-impressive win at Green Bay, the first time the Eagles truly looked like a contender. Their defense is short-handed, though, and they need their receiving group to heal up quickly.Denver (0-4) at Los Angeles Chargers (2-2)One disappointing team, and one total flop through 25 percent of the season. The Broncos have perfected losing close games, and struggle moving the ball on the ground and stopping the run. Which means LA, much more proficient through the air, might give lots of work to its deep stable of running backs. WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShareTweetShareSharePackers 2019 Draft Visits: Jeffery Simmons is in Green Bay on a top-30 visitDouglas DeFelice-USA TODAY SportsAs the Green Bay Packers continue to scout and interview with prospects during the lead-up to the 2019 NFL Draft Bart Starr Jersey White , a host of players are coming to Lambeau Field this week for top-30 visits and local workouts. Many of them we know about because of media reporting, but in today’s social media age, several players are breaking news themselves. One such player is Jeffery Simmons, a defensive tackle from Mississippi State. Simmons posted on his Instagram account on Thursday that he is at Lambeau for an official visit (Thanks go to @SeedsofJake for finding the post first.)Simmons was a highly disruptive presence for the Bulldogs, starting in Starkville for three years. He had seven sacks in that time, all coming in his final two years with five in 2017 and two in 2018. He also had double-digit tackles for loss in both seasons, with 12 in 2017 and 18 in 2018.However, Simmons has both injury and off-the-field red flags. During his workouts in preparation for his Pro Day, Simmons suffered a torn ACL. Therefore, he is widely expected to spend his rookie season on injured reserve, with only a small chance of recovering in time to play in 2019.Simmons was not scheduled to attend the 2019 NFL Combine because of a violent incident during his final year of high school. Simmons repeatedly punched a woman in the street near his home in March of 2016, and the incident was recorded on a video camera. He has reportedly been a model citizen at MSU since arriving on campus — sentiments from both head coaches he has played for — but that incident will surely come up during interviews in today’s visit. In the past, the Packers have used top-30 visits to bring in and interview prospects with significant off-the-field issues. In 2017 they brought in Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon, who also punched a woman and had the incident recorded on video Corey Linsley Jersey , and in 2016 they brought in Eastern Kentucky edge rusher Noah Spence, who was dismissed from Ohio Stateafter multiple failed drug tests. Today, we reveal players 80 through 76, a group headlined by the first of the four quarterbacks on the Packers’ roster.80: Javien Hamilton, CBOne of the numerous undrafted cornerback vying for a roster spot, Javien Hamilton doesn’t impress out in terms of stature. At 5-foot-10, 184 pounds, he ranks as the smallest corner currently on the Packers’ roster. However, Hamilton’s athletic gifts -- a 4.44 second 40-yard dash, 39-inch vertical -- give him a fighting chance to earn a role on special teams and, perhaps in time, the secondary.Though never a full-time starter at Ole Miss Kenny Clark Jersey White , Hamilton saw extensive action with the Rebels, appearing in all 24 games over the past two years. He will have to prove that, like some of Green Bay’s former undrafted corners, his pro career will prove more consistent than his college one.79: Brady Sheldon, ILBBrady Sheldon returns to Green Bay after spending the final two months of 2018 on the Packers’ practice squad. Sheldon has played regular-season snaps before, however, seeing action in multiple games with the Oakland Raiders in 2017. He also spent time on the practice squad of the Cleveland Browns.Though Sheldon played outside at times during his previous NFL stops, he practiced with the inside linebackers during the Packers’ rookie minicamp earlier this year. From a numbers standpoint, he should fare better inside where the team returns just three players from last year’s 53-man roster and added only two rookies last month, neither early in the draft.78: Chandon Sullivan, CBA recent waiver acquisition, Chandon Sullivan saw NFL action with the injury-depleted Philadelphia Eagles secondary in 2018. To no one’s surprise, he struggled, giving up a reception each time an opposing quarterback targeted him Womens JK Scott Jersey , according to Pro Football Focus. But the Packers didn’t claim Sullivan for his past performance. They brought him on board due to his physical tools and upside. The 5-foot-11, 194-pound corner ran a 4.48 second 40-yard dash during his pro day along with a 7 second 3-cone drill and 40-inch vertical. At just 22, he falls in the same age range as many of Green Bay’s recent UDFA signings. If Sullivan has gained something worthwhile from his NFL experience, he has a chance to find a job somewhere in the league.77: Teo Redding, WRAnother practice-squad holdover, Teo Redding has yet to appear in an NFL regular-season game. At just 176 pounds, he weighs in as the lightest receiver on the roster, not ideal for a team that has put a premium on size at the position. Redding’s college production doesn’t suggest a future NFL wideout either, accumulating a solid but not spectacular 94 catches for 1,328 yards and 14 touchdowns over four seasons at Bowling Green. With the Packers returning seven wideouts who spent time on their 53-man roster, the opportunities for others at the position appear limited. Redding will have to overcome long odds to earn a job in Green Bay.76: Manny Wilkins, QBEach of the past two offseasons, the Packers have signed an undrafted quarterback that earned a spot on a 53-man roster. In 2017, they brought in BYU’s Taysom Hill David Bakhtiari Jersey , a dual threat who performed well enough in the preseason to convince the New Orleans Saints to claim him during final cuts. Tim Boyle followed in those footsteps last year, showing surprising poise and arm talent for a player with underwhelming college production at Eastern Kentucky and Connecticut. Rather than risk losing Boyle on waivers, Green Bay elected to keep him on their active roster all season, giving him a chance to develop his skills and compete for the No. 2 job in 2019.Manny Wilkins looks to become the Packers’ next undrafted QB success story. A three-year starter at Arizona State, Wilkins demonstrated improvement each year, specifically his touchdown-to-interception ratio. He also established himself as a running threat, amassing over 1,000 yards and 20 rushing touchdowns during his college career. Wilkins will have to unseat one and perhaps two competitors at his position to earn a roster spot. Even if he doesn’t, Wilkins could show enough during training camp and the preseason to end up on some team’s practice squad.

As always, I’ll give some highlights of each game, and I’ll put a poll at the end. The poll will be open for about 24 hours, you guys get to vote, and the winner by popular vote will advance. We had no upsets in the first round, so now we’ll see who gets the last spot in our Final Four with our next matchup: the 1987 Divisional game against the San Francisco 49ers versus the 1969 divisional game against the Los Angeles Rams.1987 Divisional playoff against the 49ers. 1987 was a weird, wild, wonderful year if you’re a Vikings fan. They only went 8-7 in a strike-shortened season that saw three games played by replacement players. The Replacement Vikings were terrible, going 0-3...but the real ones were pretty good. After a wild Thanksgiving overtime win over Dallas, they were 7-1 (minus the strike games) Kyle Rudolph Jersey , but stumbled at the end, losing three of four. They still made the playoffs, and after whipping the Saints in the wildcard round, got to travel to San Francisco to face the overwhelming Super Bowl favorite 49ers. This was in the middle of their Bill Walsh dynasty, and the 49ers just looked unstoppable. The Vikes were double digit underdogs, and I remember thinking ‘just don’t get embarrassed’.Oh, it was embarrassing...for the 49ers. Anthony Carter became a Viking God that day, catching 10 passes for 227 yards, Najee Mustafaa (nee Reggie Rutland) had a pick six, and the Vikings dominated the game from beginning to end. In the second half, Joe Montana was so rattled and flustered he was benched for Steve Young. I’d have to go back and double check, but I think that was the only time in Montana’s career that he was benched for a non-injury. Of all the wins in all of Vikings history, both regular and post-season Linval Joseph Jersey , for me this game is the one I always think of as being right at the top.1969 Divisional playoff game against the Rams: This was the beginning of the Purple People Eaters era, and the first playoff win in Vikings history. It didn’t come easy, though. The Rams jumped out to a 17-7 halftime lead, and although the Vikes got to within 17-14 in the third quarter, Joe Kapp’s two interceptions opened the door back up for the Rams to take a 20-14 lead. But in the 4th quarter, Kapp led the Vikes on a clutch drive, and when he ran it in from two yards out, the Vikes took a 21-20 lead. Carl Eller added a safety sack of Rams QB Roman Gabriel to make it 23-20, but it wasn’t until an Alan Page intercepted a pass with under a minute left that the Vikings could celebrate the win. When it comes to the foundation of what Pete Carroll wants from his offense, it’s always based around the run.It was that way in college when he was winning titles at Southern California. It’s been that way during his 10 seasons at the helm of the Seattle Seahawks. But even in the days of Marshawn Lynch carrying the load, the Seahawks have rarely had the one-two run game punch they showed in Monday night’s 37-30 win over the Minnesota Vikings. From the time Seattle selected Rashaad Penny in the first round of the 2018 draft, Carroll has talked about the opportunity of Penny and Chris Carson combining to be a forceful backfield duo for the Seahawks.Against one of the best run defenses in the NFL, it finally popped as Seattle (10-2) moved into first place in the NFC West.Carson rushed for 102 yards. Penny added another 74. Both rushed for touchdowns and Seattle rolled up 218 yards rushing against a defense giving up less than 100 per game. It was the third time in Carroll’s tenure — and first since 2012 — the Seahawks had two running backs rush for at least 74 yards in the same game.“They’re just playing. And when we see how the game goes Kirk Cousins Jersey , we might give a guy a few more here or a few more there. We don’t know, because they’re both really good,” Carroll said. “We love them and we just play them. Chris is the starter, so he winds up getting some more carries, but they’re playing as 1-2, and I don’t know who is one and I don’t know who is two. They’re doing great.”The growth of Seattle’s run game in recent weeks has been an important development and taken some of the offensive weight off quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson hasn’t been great the past few weeks, but Seattle’s offense hasn’t faltered because of the run game.In the past four games, Seattle rushed for 145 yards against Tampa Bay when it was ranked No. 1 in the league against the run; 147 vs. San Francisco; 174 vs. Philadelphia and capped the stretch with its performance against Minnesota.“They have been great for us,” Wilson said. “And to have that bond, to have that work ethic, you should see these guys work on a daily basis, how they understand things, how they understand the game. It's an honor and pleasure to play next to them.”WHAT’S WORKINGIt’s not the “Legion of Boom” and shouldn’t be compared to that group. That being said Adrian Peterson Jersey , Seattle’s secondary is playing very well. Take away a blown coverage that led to a 58-yard touchdown and Seattle didn’t allow a catch of longer than 19 yards by a Minnesota wide receiver or tight end. Stefon Diggs was held to four catches for 25 yards. Seattle cornerback Tre Flowers had a game-changing interception on the first play of the fourth quarter that allowed the Seahawks to take a 34-17 lead. Quarterbacks have a combined 75.7 passer rating against Seattle over the past three games.WHAT NEEDS HELPThe Seahawks could be better at closing out games in the fourth quarter. Ten of Seattle’s 12 games this season have been decided by one score and Monday was another time the Seahawks let a late lead start to slip away. Seattle had a 17-point lead with 13:30 remaining and watched Minnesota pull within 34-30 in the closing minutes. Seattle has just one win by more than eight points.STOCK UPSeattle had to get a big game from its offensive line to have success running against Minnesota’s defense. But on top of the running yards, the Seahawks line was not penalized in the victory. The clean performance up front kept Seattle out of challenging down-and-distance situations and helped lead the Seahawks holding the ball for nearly 40 minutes.STOCK DOWNRookie wide receiver DK Metcalf led Seattle with six receptions for 75 yards. It was a nearly flawless night by the rookie until he fumbled early in the fourth quarter deep in Minnesota territory with the Seahawks trying to put away the Vikings. It was his third fumble in the past six games.INJURIESSeattle came out of the victory relatively healthy with one lingering concern regarding the shoulder of defensive end Ziggy Ansah. It’s the same shoulder Ansah had surgery on last offseason and he seemed to aggravate it on a big hit in the closing minutes. Carroll said on his radio show on Tuesday morning that the shoulder, “is a problem,” and the team will have to see how he does moving forward.Wide receiver Tyler Lockett went without a catch and was one of a handful of players that had been sick with the flu last week, but he should be fine this week, Carroll said.KEY NUMBER8 — With a win, the Seahawks will clinch their eighth playoff berth in Carroll’s 10 seasons in charge. Between 1976 and 2009, the Seahawks had 10 total postseason appearances.WHAT’S NEXTThe Seahawks face the Los Angeles Rams in primetime on a short week this Sunday. Seattle has lost four of its past five road visits against the Rams and is 1-2 since the team moved back to Los Angeles. It could also be Carroll’s final trip to the Coliseum where he led USC prior to joining the Seahawks in 2010.
AUBURN Brian Poole Jersey , Ala. (AP) — Jamel Dean was a spectator while his Auburn teammates ran the 40 at pro day, a luxury he earned with an eye-catching time at the NFL combine. The cornerback took care of that with a 4.30-second run that marked the second-fastest time at the combine in Indianapolis. It’s a number that can only boost his stock as Auburn’s highest rated NFL draft prospect despite undergoing three knee surgeries during his playing career.“It was like one of the greatest feelings ever,” Dean said Friday after Auburn’s pro day workouts for NFL scouts and other team representatives. “At one point, I thought I was never going to play football again. Now I’m out here living my dream, and I’m getting closer to the NFL. I just feel like everything is falling into place now.”It’s a situation that would have seemed improbable before Dean even stepped on Auburn’s campus. He originally signed with Ohio State, but was medically disqualified from a knee injury sustained in high school.Dean transferred to Auburn Womens Steve McLendon Jersey , redshirted in 2015 and missed the following season with another injury, this time to his left ACL.He and quarterback Jarrett Stidham both opted to skip their final seasons at Auburn and turn pro. Friday’s pro day was just another opportunity for those two and others, including middle linebacker Deshaun Davis and defensive tackle Dontavius Russell, to try to make another impression on NFL teams. Some mock drafts have Dean as a potential second-round pick while Stidham is widely rated as a mid- to late-rounder.Dean especially made waves in Indianapolis, enabling him to focus on position drills on campus. Only Mississippi defensive back Zedrick Woods (4.29) ran faster at the combine.“A lot of people said I made a lot of money after running that 40 and just my performance in the combine in general,” he said.Dean said he felt like “a science experiment” with all the poking and prodding on his surgically repaired knees at the combine. One benefit of going through those injuries: He feels like his ability to cope with adversity should be a selling point to NFL teams.“They should know the answer to that one http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-darryl-roberts-jersey ,” said Dean, who played in 26 games the past two seasons. “After three knee surgeries? There aren’t many dudes who have had three knee surgeries and still continue to play football. That lets you know that I know how to handle adversity.”Stidham has had to do some of that, too, after transferring from Baylor and starting for two seasons. He threw a range of balls to receivers, including ex-Auburn wide receivers Darius Slayton and Ryan Davis.Stidham only had two incompletions on 50-plus attempts, missing on a 10-yard corner route into the end zone and a seam route downfield.“It’s probably the best one of the (pro day workouts) that I’ve run Chandler Catanzaro Jersey ,” said Jordan Palmer, who is also working with quarterback prospects Drew Lock and Tyree Jackson. “You’re talking about Deshaun Watson and Sam Darnold and Josh Allen.”Stidham has faced questions about his footwork and handling of defensive pressure , and didn’t help in that regard with two fumbles in an otherwise strong Senior Bowl week.He finished his Auburn career with his best game in the Music City Bowl against Purdue .Pro day was another chance to showcase his right arm before NFL representatives of different teams.“Now it just comes down to private workouts and private meetings,” Stidham said. “I’ve still got to work just as hard as I worked before, if not harder, to really make that last jump.”____ As training camp is set to officially begin this week Youth Marcus Maye Jerseys , the Jets’ first round pick is still unsigned. Quinnen Williams has not reached an agreement with the team yet.Multiple reports indicate the disagreement is on the timing of signing bonus payments.Under the current rookie wage scale, there aren’t many pressing matters that need to be negotiated. The years and dollar values are set in stone. One of the few areas that can emerge as a potential source of conflict is the timing of the signing bonus payments. As Mehta notes, Williams is going to get a signing bonus around $21.6 million, but the timing of that payment can be negotiated. Players typically want as much of the signing bonus money upfront as possible Marcus Maye Jerseys Stitched , while teams might want to delay paying a good chunk ofthe money until the future.I am sure many Jets fans are jittery after Sam Darnold’s holdout last year, but the fact the two sides are within $100 thousand of an agreement suggests cooler heads are likely to prevail.
http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-jeremy-hill-jersey , they have positive proof through seven weeks that just isn't so.Sure, the Patriots are an AFC power, even though they aren't overpowering anybody, and the Chiefs again won their first five games before losing. The Giants and 49ers are dredging the bottom of the NFC once more. But take a look at the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles. And the Jaguars. The Titans, the Falcons and the Bills.Don't take a long look, though, because it's pretty ugly. It's most unsightly in Jacksonville, where a locker room incident punctuated a third straight loss. The Jaguars, who led the Patriots in the fourth quarter of the AFC title game in January, are 3-4, and in the last three defeats are minus-8 in turnover differential. They're minus-12 on the season, the offense has disappeared and quarterback Blake Bortles was benched in a 20-7 home loss to division-rival Houston.Calais Campbell was seen holding back fellow defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, a carry-over from the screaming, shouting and finger pointing after the latest flop."We've got to do something, but the first thing we've got to do is stop turning the damn ball over," exasperated coach Doug Marrone said. "Period. That would be the positive of how we can build."A defense that appeared ready to dominate this year has been inconsistent. Injuries have been a factor. And the psyche seems damaged."Frustration's a part of the game, and we're emotional people and this is an emotional game," Campbell said. "At the same time, I think these guys, this group of guys, we have a different kind of heart to us. At the same time, losing sucks, you know Youth Matthew Slater Jerseys , especially losing three in a row. Stacking losses, that's not who we are, that's not what we want to be."But it is who we are 'cause that's what's going on right now. I do believe that we will get it fixed. We have no choice but to get it fixed."They'll set about it in London against the Eagles , who blew a 17-0 lead in the fourth quarter at home against Carolina. Another team with plenty of injuries, the Eagles' resilient nature that carried them to the top is ebbing.Like the Jags, the Eagles recognize it. They simply can't get caught up in expectations."There's enough pressure," coach Doug Pederson said. "Just the game itself brings its own sort of pressure. We don't have to go force anything. We don't have to go looking for plays. Let the plays come to you and then make them when they come, and that's where we're at."Actually, where they are at is 3-4 — they lost only three times last season — trailing 4-2 Washington in a muddled NFC East. And now they head overseas."You just isolate this game in this week and move on to the next. You learn from it," quarterback Carson Wentz said. "I sound like a broken record every time we lose up here, but it's on to the next. There is no time to feel sorry for yourself, there is no time to be (ticked) about it. You have to learn from it quick and bounce back to next week."Tennessee showed some guts in going for a 2-point conversion in the final seconds, trailing 20-19 in London. It failed — twice, the first negated by a Chargers penalty. The Titans (3-4) have dropped three in a row, too. Their offense has been awful and the rush defense weak. They are hardly a lost cause, though. The Bills and Falcons probably are.We would gladly give Atlanta a break because no team has been ravaged by injuries the way the Falcons have. For the first month of the season, they lost a starter or more per game, especially on D. Top runner Devonta Freeman now is on injured reserve. No one gets a break in the NFL, however, and the fact star receiver Julio Jones has yet to find the end zone is emblematic of underachievement. At 2-4 in the highly competitive NFC South, the Falcons, who wasted away the 2016 championship with a second-half collapse in the Super Bowl, won't be participating in the big game they will host in February.Of all the struggling 2017 playoff qualifiers Matthew Slater Jerseys Stitched , the demise of the Bills was most predictable. From some strange roster decisions to the inability to replace key lost blockers to not building on potential momentum from their first postseason berth since the turn of the century, the Bills have been a mess. Like all of the teams discussed here, they've been struck by the injury bug. Unlike the others, they didn't have the talent base to compete from the outset.Turnover in the playoffs lineup happens each year in the NFL, of course. For every one of these disappointments thus far are the risers: the Bears, Ravens and Texans. Houston began the season with three defeats and now leads the AFC South."I think we started believing more," safety Tyrann Mathieu said. "We started the season 0-3. No one was negative. We all know we were really close to winning the game. We kept working and tuned out a lot of the outside noise."Anytime you win four games in a row you set a standard for yourself."Too bad some teams aren't approaching the standards they set by making the playoffs last season. One of the most-anticipated games of this year’s regular season will take place in Foxboro on Sunday night: the New England Patriots will host the Green Bay Packers. While the visiting team has had its ups and downs this season, it still features a powerful offense — led by future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers — and an efficient defense.Let’s analyze the matchup by taking a look at some of the advanced stats heading into the game (courtesy of SB Nation’s Bill Connelly; for his methodology please click here).Patriots offense vs Packers defenseNormal down and distance in the open fieldWhile New England’s offense shows some inconsistencies in the open field, the Green Bay defense performs well between its own 30-yard line and the opponents’ 10. This will make for an interesting matchup especially when it comes to moving the football: the Patriots have regular success – gaining 50% of necessary yardage on first down, 70% on second down, and 100% on third and fourth down – in this area, as do the Packers.Backed Up Situations Near the Goal LineThe Patriots’ success rate when backed up looks solid albeit unspectacular after eight games, with the turnover percentage still hurting from a tipped week one interception. The Packers’ defense, meanwhile, is one of the best in the NFL when it comes to limiting an offense’s effectiveness inside the opposing 10-yard line.Red ZoneDespite having to settle for three field goals and only one touchdown in the red zone on Monday against the Buffalo Bills, the Patriots offense is still among the NFL’s best inside the opponent’s 30-yard line – but one that gets weaker the closer it approaches the goal line. The Packers defense, meanwhile, is wildly inconsistent in the red area with obvious weaknesses coming inside the 10-yard line. If New England gets down there, chances are the team’s output will look better than last week.Third DownsGreen Bay has a serviceable third down defense no matter the situation it finds itself in. The Patriots offense, however, outranks the unit in all but one categories: New England successfully converts more third-and-longs and third-and-shorts. The middle range – two to six yards to go – is where the Packers have a statistical advantage heading into the game, so improving there has to be high up on the home team’s agenda.Blitz SituationsThe Packers match up well with New England’s offense when it comes to blitz situations – obvious passing downs specified as first-and-18 or more, second-and-14 or more Kenny Britt Jersey , and third-and-3 or more. Facing an aggressive pass rush that ranks fourth in the league in such situations could pose a challenge for a Patriots offensive line that is performing very well on the year but could be without its starters on the right side: Shaq Mason missed the first two practices of the week with a calf injury, Marcus Cannon the last two games because of a concussion.Patriots defense vs Packers offenseNormal down and distance in the open fieldThe Patriots defense, having faced a highly inconsistent Bills team in week eight, improved its open field rankings when compared to last week. In general, this will make for an interesting battle against a Packers defense that moves the football well in this part of the field. The key matchup might be third down: making sure to get off the field has to be a priority against a potent team that has had some success when it comes to sustaining drives.Backed Up Situations Near the Goal LineThe Patriots are no defensive world beaters when having an opposing offense pinned down inside its 10-yard line, but the Packers are not overly exciting in this part of the field either. Mediocre versus mediocre.Red ZoneNew England’s defense is back at its bend-don’t-break roots and one of the best units in the NFL again inside the 20-yard line. The Packers offense, meanwhile, is inconsistent in this part of the field: while it performs well inside the 10-yard line – except when it comes to turnover rate – its success is limited between the 30 and 10. Of course, stopping Green Bay before getting too close to the goal line and thus forcing field goals instead of surrendering touchdowns would be big for the Patriots.Third DownsThe Patriots’ defensive struggles on third down continue. Even though the team is strong on third-and-longs, it is among the worst in the league inside six yards to gain. Green Bay, on the other hand, is generally successful on third downs — especially when there is less than one yard to gain. To make matters worse for New England from a statistical perspective: the team has yet to stop a third-and-short conversion this season, Green Bay has had success on all of them. Advantage Packers.Blitz SituationsOne of the most interesting battles of Sunday night could be whether or not Green Bay is able to generate big plays against a New England defense that is average in this area. With Aaron Rodgers at the helm and explosive pass catchers like Davante Adams, Jimmy Graham, and Randall Cobb as potential targets, the Patriots need to be able to limit the big play – especially in so-called blitz situations.Overall, the Patriots and Packers match up rather evenly which means that the little things might make the difference and be the keys to the game:Third down: if New England can get wins in this area to extend or stop drives, it would go a long way to dictate the tempo and rhythm of the game.Red zone: the Packers are inconsistent in this part of the field on both sides of the football, which might play into the Patriots’ hands.Big plays: New England’s defense has gotten worse when it comes to defending big plays over the last few weeks – now would be a good time to bounce back.If New England is able to get regular victories in most of those areas, it would go a long way to getting a victory in the game as well.
